Our Estimator is responsible for calculating the costs of materials, labour, and other factors involved in fabricating and installing steel structures. Their role is crucial in helping fabrication shops and contractors prepare competitive bids while ensuring profitability.
Key Responsibilities of a Steel Fabrication Estimator:
- Reviewing Project Plans & Specifications – Analyse architectural and structural drawings to determine project requirements.
- Material Takeoffs – Accurately quantify the steel, bolts, welding materials, and coatings needed.
- Cost Estimation – Calculate material costs, labour hours, fabrication, transportation, and erection expenses.
- Software Utilisation – Excel-based estimating tools.
- Supplier & Subcontractor Coordination – Obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors for materials and services.
